While all eyes are on the next generation of Galaxy S10 that will be unveiled next week in San Francisco, here is Samsung reveals the release of a brand new tablet. An announcement a little surprising to the extent that the first leaks on the model appeared only this morning.
A nice tablet to the eye, fine and light
This Tab S5e takes more or less the same size as his big sister. So we find a shelf all in length and enjoying rounded corners. It seems to keep the same size of borders around the screen, except that it now has rounded corners to better match the overall appearance of the product. In the back, we say goodbye to shiny plastic and hello to polished metal (aluminum finish), gray or black depending on the model. At the top and bottom of this back, there are two plastic bands used as antenna.
The tablet loses a little overweight compared to the previous generation since it weighs only 400 g. Contained in a thickness not exceeding 5.5 mm, it can be carried everywhere.
But if design is one thing, what about the rest of its technical sheet? It offers a Super Amoled slab of 10.5 inches that occupies 82% of the total area of the tablet. Power level, this Tab S5e is equipped with an octocœur processor (which could be a Snapdragon 670) supported by 4 or 6 GB of RAM depending on the model chosen. For storage, count 64 GB with the first model and 128 GB with the second. A capacity that can be increased thanks to a micro-SD card, up to 512 GB.
This competitor of the iPad Pro has a battery of 7 040 mAh that can be recharged in USB- C. The autonomy announced by the manufacturer is 14 h 30, which we will not fail to check when we test it.
For photo and video, it’s pretty classic. Samsung offers a 13-megapixel rear module and an 8-megapixel front module. Regarding video, you can shoot up to 4K UD at 30 fps. The front camera will be used for facial recognition, which itself will be accompanied by a fingerprint reader in the power button.
As on the Galaxy Tab S4 , the sound part is always provided by AKG and Dolby Atmos. The four speakers on the terminal will not be too much to offer you an immersive experience when watching movies, for example.
Note that this tablet is the first to benefit from the new version of the vocal assistant of the Korean firm: Bixby. It’s also the arrival of One UI , the new version of Samsung’s mobile interface, which was still in the beta phase until then. Finally, a bit like Continuity on Apple devices, the Tab S5e wants to be a real extension of your smartphone Galaxy S, which will allow you to leave a little more your mobile.
Unfortunately, this announcement will not have been paired with a release date. At most, we know that it should be available during the second quarter of this year. Hope to meet on the Samsung stand at the MWC at the end of this month.
